Types of Sentences

Assertive (or declarative) sentences state facts, Interrogative sentences ask questions, Imperative sentences give commands or requests, and Exclamatory sentences express strong emotion or surprise. 

Here are one-word definitions for each type:

Assertive: Statement

Interrogative: Question

Imperative: Command

Exclamatory: Exclamation
